The Harriers 9th Annual Quiz was held on Friday 28th February 2025 at the Kobenhavn bar in Halifax. 12 teams took part in the tough but enjoyable quiz with questions set by Debbie Kirkbride. The winning team was Mark and Sarah Clements, Stewart McConnell and Amy Radford. Second Place went to the Ingle family and third placed was Richard and Sue Corney with Andrew and Alison.
Thank you to everyone who donated raffle prizes and to All Pizzetto for their £25 donation. The quiz raised £442 which has been donated to the Happy Days Charity in Halifax. The photo shows Laura Whitham receiving the cheque.
More photos from the quiz can be found on the Gallery page of this website.
There were three Harriers amongst the 84 runners at this morning's Midgley Moor Fell Race; the last event in the club's 2024/25 Fell & Trail League.
Going into the race, defending champion, Jane Hobson, and Stef Dickinson were tied at the top of the Women's Section. With the title up for grabs, their head to head race proved decisive. In very cold conditions, Stef completed the challenging 5 mile course, with 1,250' of climbing, in 1:04:06, ahead of Jane who finished in 1:16:41. As a result, Stef pipped Jane to the title by one point. Rachel Standish, who did not race today, finished the season just one point behind Jane in yet another tight title battle between our ladies.
Tom Paget led the Harriers trio home and was the only men's representative for the Harriers today, finishing in 38th place in 1:00:12. This result moved Tom up from third place in the Men's Section to joint second place with Will Carver. Ryan Barker had previously sealed victory in the League.
Many congratulations to Stef and Ryan as our 2024/25 champions and well done to all our podium finishers.
Also, a special mention for Jane, who competed in more Fell & Trail League races than anyone else, participating in 11 of the season's 15 races.
The first race in the 2025/26 season is the Heptonstall Fell Race on 23rd March. Entries are open.
