Another sunny evening saw a regrowing of the popularity of the summer handicap with 31 athletes taking part in the 5 mile out and back course along the Hebble Trail and canal towpath. For the second year running it was a scratch runner that conquered as Asif Razzak stormed across the finish line in an impressive time of 52 minutes and 19 seconds. That pace would have him easily smashing his 10K PB so we look forward to bringing news of that soon! The ever improving Steve Fitz-Costa took second place, just ahead of the evergreen John Greenwood in third.
Most importantly, everyone enjoyed the lighthearted fun as well as the refreshments at the track afterwards where Asif was awarded with the winners trophy.
Special thanks to Hazel Berrett, Craig Barratt, David Ingle, Steve Sladding, Fiona Murphy, Simon Gelsthorpe, Geoff & Sarah Cumber, Andrea Ackroyd, Jenny St Romain, Victoria Midgley, Debbie & Chris Kirkbride for all their help in making it happen.
The annual Harriers Marathon Celebration Meal was once again held at Julio's in Halifax. Thirty people attended the meal and a great night was had by all. Our athletes proving that long distance running doesn't have to be lonely.

Friday 27th March saw the return of our ever popular, annual quiz night, hosted by friends of the Harriers, København Bar Halifax.
10 enthusiastic teams pitted their wits in a hotly contested battle to be crowned as the brainboxes of the town. The win was taken by ‘Critical Mass’ made up of team members Mark Clements, Sarah Clements, Stuart McConnell and Lou, pipping ‘Team Kingle’ and ‘The Three White Roses’ to second and third places respectively. See the Gallery page for photos of the winning teams.
As always, the proceeds of the event were donated to charity and yesterday Chris and Debbie Kirkbride presented a cheque for £340 to Happy Days in Halifax, who provide excellent support for people experiencing homelessness or in crisis. Thanks to everyone who took part and those who donated prizes for the raffle.
Happy Days have entries for the Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon on Sunday 10th May. You can get entry to the Marathon for £35 and the Half Marathon for £25. Further details are on their website using this link:- Leeds Marathon and Half Marathon | Happy Days UK
